Located in Quang Cu Commune, Sam Son, Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, the new Van Chai Resort has been an ideal destination of many tourists in the North. This is absolutely not the best resort but it is still an attractive place that encourages me to return in the future.
In terms of pricing, Van Chai is offering a very competitive price. They have many room types like Deluxe Room, Superior Room, Family Room, Suite, Villa with prices vary from $50 to just over $200 per night. I stayed at a $80 Family Room (Junior) on 2nd floor and a $100 Deluxe Room with Ocean View. All the rooms have a traditional Vietnamese architecture with bricks, wood and bamboo. The Family Room (Junior) is slightly bigger than the Deluxe Room, they both are not really spacious but you will still feel quite comfortable. Everything looks clean and convenient. The only problem I had is the leaked water in bathroom and there were some rats in my room that night. They jumped from the roof to my mosquito net and we were scared to death. I called the room service and the staff was quite kind and helpful cleaning the mess.
We also spent 2 night having dinner in the resort but the foods were quite disappointing. We had dinner on the beachfront on the 1st day and had buffet on the 2nd night. They had a lot of foods to serve different customers but their quality was just acceptable in my opinion. I’d recommend to walk out of the resort and have dinner at some restaurants on the outside. Then, you can really enjoy the tasty and fresh seafoods.
Otherwise, everything is much better than staying at hotels on the seafront. The resort is located at the end of the coastal road and still very convenient to visit other attractions. This is a great place to avoid the crowd and you will enjoy spending some time on the private beach with your family.
